Trailer - Editing and the Program
The program I am using to edit my film is Sony Vegas Pro 10.0. I am almost finished editing the final versions of the Trailer. I have used features such as Media Generators and Fade in Vegas to create a professional effect in the Trailer. I prefer Sony Vegas over Adobe Premiere Pro because I am used to it and it is less confusing for me. Although Premiere Pro has more features, much of the features can be added with After Effects or other similar programs.
Ideas for soundtrack
My ideal soundtrack would be using music track from the Two Steps From Hell production music company. They have realeased three public albums as of now and I am currently reseraching which music would go with the film trailer. I want the music to be dramatic but just to an extent and with paced rythym. I am also looking at how to contact the composers so I can request permission to play it for my trailer. I will choose which music is appropriate, then ask for permission to play it, and then buy the track or the album.
Target Audience
The target audience for my products is aimed towards people who enjoy british crime dramas. The audience would be class D to C1. I don't think class E should be included as our target audience because I think that pensioners wouldn't be interested in our films. I want the audience to see how Sean is portrayed and to get across the idea that he lives two lives. The trailer does state in some captions that he wants to break free from the bad side of his life and live a normal life. The audience may want to watch this for escapism, to escape from reality or for drama and general entertainment.
The target audience could also be a male orientated audience who can relate to Sean as a marginalised male, stuck between the chaos and complications of life, or it could also be watched as an escapism from their own problems. The products would satisfy this audience using a similar marginalised male who they can identify with or possibly use the character as an outlet. By doing so, I attract a certain type of male from Connells Masculinities and by word of mouth, the product could become popular.

This Is England
This is England is a british crime drama which revolves around the story of a young boy meeting an older gang of youths who invite him into their group. It follows the group and the conflicts between races, age and gender. The main protagonist has been portrayed as a little boy who doesn't know a lot about what is going on around him. The group he hangs around with look after and care for him. Usually shots showing the main protagonist are high angle shots which can sometimes mean he is being portrayed as a weak individual. I may use the high angle shots for the victims to portray them as weak compared to the protagonist.
The first few seconds of the trailer give examples of events that happened in the 1980's, which is when This Is England is set. The trailer uses jump cut for the first three scenes, this establishes the setting and the time it was in with all the major events happening.
The mise en scene 25 seconds into the trailer shows a dark and damp location, possibly industrial, this could be the general area for the film and suggests that it has a british industrialist genre.
Snatch
Snatch is set in London in the crinimal underworld. It contains two plots that are connected with one another. The plot deals with a search for a diamond and the other plot revolving around a trapped small time boxing promoter named Turkish. Snatch also relates to the film "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" as it is filmed with the same style, techniques and conventions and contains some of the same actors in each film.
Snatch is losely related to my film as it is a british crime film and it is directed by Guy Ritchie, who also directed "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". Snatch's trailer immediately drops the audience into the action with the opening scene, this engages the audience and keeps their attention fixed. Angles of shots are generally low and seem to connote that the characters have power over the audience or have power over the narrative.
I want to recreate the britsih industrial crime feel to my trailer, much like the trailer for snatch. My trailer is similar in some ways, it has the same genre with crime mixed into it. Except the crimes are different, I want my trailer to be somewhat bleak to portray Sean's outlook on life and use similar shots and angles. This trailer will be my main focus.
Dead Mans Shoes
This film is a British psychological thriller co-written and directed by Shane Meadows and Paddy Considine, the latter of whom also stars. The film is about a disaffected soldier returns to his hometown seeking revenge from the thugs who tortured his mentally-challenged brother many years ago. This film is losely related to my film as it has the element of a character seeking revenge and is also a british crime genre. I will incorporate shots and some of the characters personalities such as the establishing shot, close ups and the use of the protagonist, Richard's, personality.

We then see some very wide shots used, possibly again to show the setting or location, we can see two characters walking along a path and we can assume that they are very close. Futher on we find out that they are brothers.
The trailer uses a flashback at 1.32 to add more background to the characters involved in the film. This could be used to connect the audience with the characters emotionally. The flashbacks are filtered in black and white, again to suggest that the scene was in the past.
Close up and mid shots are used often in the trailer to portray the characters emotions to the audience and sometimes to show the characters relationships with one another using facial expressions.

Idea for the trailer
Me and Sean have talked about what to do for the film trailer and we came across an idea for the trailer while we were talking and creating the storyboards.
We decided to do a trailer with only two scenes, swapping them every 10 seconds or so. The first scene would show the character reading the newspaper, drinking tea and eating a bagel or toast. This would emphasise the fact that the character is living an everyday life.
We want the first scene to look a bit like this. The mise en scene is good as nearly
everything is white and this implies that the character is pure.
10 seconds into the scene we could cut to the character killing a victim. This may seem confusing but we leave the scene to play for around 5 seconds. Then it cuts back to the character eating his toast or bagel and still reading the newspaper. It keeps cutting between the two scenes as this puts emphasis on the statement I said before: This character lives an everyday life, but he has a second life as a hitman and he tries to break away from that life.

Brief
I have decided to do a film trailer with a poster advertising the film and a magazine featuring the film. I have looked at a few ideas for film trailers and decided to do a British Crime/Gangster genre.
I am going to use Sean Watson as the main protagonist for this film trailer as I thought he would create a good "silent character who will not speak out of line". Their characteristics are the same and he is what I imagined the character to be like.

The trailer will basically outline how the character lives a normal life but also works as a hitman for a local gang. It shows the surpression and how he tries to break away from the gang and live his life in peace but as much as he wants to break free, the harder he struggles the harder it is to escape from it.
The characters will be wearing suits for parts of the film trailer which implies that the characters are part of a gang. I will also be using props such as a gun to create the crime/gangster cliché.
The poster and magazine cover featuring the film will have Sean posing as the main character since the film is essentially all about the main character.

Feedback of Blog
Based on the feedback from others, I have noted that I needed to change the blog so that people can read the font. Some have also noted that the british crime genre is a good idea. Other people have said that I could post videos of inspirational texts and choose an idea. I am going to include some of these in my brief and post some inspirational texts from time to time.
Mood Board - Inspiring ideas
The current project I'm working on involves creating a page full of ideas from pictures and inspirational texts. Here I've use Publisher to compile the ideas together and saved them as one full page for each idea.
I have been looking into certain genres to produce a film trailer of that genre. So I decided upon three separate ideas. The first one I looked into is a traditional British gangster genre. The characters would look like cliché gangsters and the setting would be centred around industrial England.
The next genre I decided to research was a horror/thriller type film with a typical character who chases a group of people around. I decided to focus on masked characters so that the identity is unknown and builds suspense for the film. I wanted to set the scene in a dark forest to give that movie cliché.
I also looked at the comedy genre and viewed trailers from inspirational movies such as "The Hangover" and "Blades of Glory" to get some ideas for a trailer. Some of the characters from "The Hangover" series could be used as ideas for characters used in the trailer. I decided to set one scene in a football pitch in front of lots of people for the added humour effect.
