Inspirational Texts - Posters

I did some research on some film posters. I wanted to create a similar film poster to these. Featuring Sean on the poster and no one else. This is to create a feeling of loneliness the character feels and also will promote the film for release. Usually a poster will have a release date or advanced screenigs in a popular area and also the cast of the film. A popular technique to use is "Based on a true story" to attract the audience and drag them away from standard fictional movies. Another technique is "From the directors of...", this is used when directors have created a popular film and gain popularity from the film. They can then use that popularity for future films to gather an audience to view the film. Johnny English Reborn does not show the release date but gives a rather vague outline of when it will be released. It also does not feature the cast of the film.

Although I want the poster to be similar to these featuring only one character, they are typically hollywood posters and my product is a small time production, I am also going to look at similar genres of films made in britain. Such as Gangster No. 1 and Dead Mans Shoes.

These posters are of british films that are of similar genre to my product. Out of the three, Dead Man's Shoes and Gangster No. 1 intrigues me the most. As they use a similar colour scheme with red, which connotes violence and blood, black which can connote death and evil and white, however this clashes directly with black as white is a pure and good colour, and could show that the film is dark, twisted and violent but the motives are pure and good hearted. Much like the main character of Dead Man's Shoes.
